The trial run for the tunnel route between Dyore and Hanogi on the Manali four‑lane highway was successfully completed on Monday the 7th of September 2026 paving the way for its opening to traffic within the next four days.
According to official sources, the new stretch is expected to provide major relief to motorists heading towards Kullu–Manali, ensuring smoother and safer travel along one of Himachal Pradesh’s busiest corridors.
The trial was overseen by Vipnesh Sharma, Member of the NHAI Board, underscoring the project’s importance at the national level.
Built at an estimated cost of ₹2,600 crore, the project comprises 10 tunnels in total.
On the Dyore–Hanogi section, four tunnels have been constructed, of which two will be opened initially. These measure approximately 2.8 km and 650 m in length.
Adding to the engineering feat, a bridge near Khotinala — rising about 45 meters high and stretching 140 meters long — connects the tunnel sections, further enhancing connectivity.
Once operational, the new route is expected to significantly cut travel time and improve safety standards, marking another milestone in the modernization of Himachal’s road infrastructure.
