Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi has announced that the Centre has directed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to uniformly implement a revised LPG refill booking interval of 25 days for both urban and rural consumers, effective immediately.
In a post on social media, the Minister noted that with the LPG supply situation improving and refill backlogs significantly reduced, the government has decided to relax earlier restrictions.
Under the new rule, all domestic LPG consumers — urban or rural — can now book refills at 25‑day intervals. Gopi also shared a copy of the Petroleum Ministry’s letter instructing OMCs to enforce the change without delay.
Previously, due to supply pressures triggered by the Middle East conflict, the booking interval had been set at 25 days for urban areas and 45 days for rural areas.
The latest move is expected to ease consumer inconvenience and bring parity across regions.
