Top military commanders from India and China convened for two days at a remote border outpost in Arunachal Pradesh on September 6–7, 2026.
The meetings were held at the newly designated “Damai–Wacha” meeting point along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
On September 6, Chinese commanders crossed into Indian territory and held talks at Wacha Point, located within the Kibithu Post. The following day, September 7, the Indian delegation crossed over to the Damai Hut on the Chinese side.
The Damai–Wacha arrangement mirrors the Chushul–Moldo meeting point in Eastern Ladakh, providing a structured mechanism for alternating venues.
Sources indicate that the Indian Army and the PLA had mutually agreed for renaming the meeting huts across the LAC as Wacha (India) and Damai (China).
At his bi‑weekly press briefing on Tuesday, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that the latest commander‑level engagement was held in line with the understandings reached between the Special Representatives of India and China in August 2025 and August 2026, as well as subsequent discussions under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC).
