India has charged the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) over its remarks against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), calling the American organisation “biased” and levelled it saying it lacks credibility.

On Friday the 21st of August 2026, the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Randhir Jaiswal during his bi-weekly presser that this biased US commission in the past has also repeatedly made incorrect and provocative statements about India and that such statements should be best ignored.

“We all know this is a biased institution. For years, it has made incorrect and provocative statements about India. We should ignore such institutions, as they have their own agendas and lack credibility,” Jaiswal told reporters.

The MEA’s reaction came-in after USCIRF officials called for sanctions against the RSS and urged the US government not to extend high-level diplomatic courtesies or hold meetings with its leaders.

The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled visit to America, Canada and England from August 25 onwards.

It may be recalled that Mohan Bhagwat is expected to undertake the visit at the invitation of local associations and organisations associated with the Indian diaspora in these countries.
