News from Arunachal Pradesh speaks of a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Bhalukpong Police in West Kameng district where police had seized 155.105 kgs of suspected cannabis worth about Rs 78 lakh from a car.
According to police, the operation was carried out on Friday the 24th of July 2026.
According to police the car attempted to evade checking at the Inner Line Permit (ILP) Check Gate by turning back towards Bomdila. In a short duration chase by police the suspected vehicle which was left behind at a desolate location near the SSB Colony as one of the occupants fled on foot.
Police found the abandoned vehicle not far from Kameng Inn Hotel in Upper Bhalukpong.
After obtaining the required authorization, a police team conducted a search in the presence of independent witnesses and recovered 31 plastic bags containing 155.105 kg of suspected cannabis.
The seized contraband and the vehicle had catalogued and sealed following legal procedures.
Police sources added that a ase has been registered under Section 20(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the absconding driver and other suspected accomplices.
This seizure marks a significant success in the ongoing drive against illegal narcotics by the local administration in Arunachal Pradesh.
