The recruitment drive marks a significant policy change, with the Railway Board deciding that Station Master appointments will be notified separately from 2026 onwards.

Officials said the move is intended to provide greater clarity on eligibility criteria, examination procedures and vacancy distribution for one of the Railways’ key operational posts.

Online applications under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026 opened on Monday and will remain open until November 25, 2026. Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university are eligible to apply.

According to the notification, vacancies have been distributed across multiple Railway zones and recruitment boards. RRB Mumbai has reported the highest number of openings with 177 posts, followed by Jammu-Srinagar with 122 vacancies and Chennai with 119.

The recruitment is aimed at strengthening Indian Railways’ operational workforce while expanding employment opportunities for graduates seeking careers in the public sector.

Railway authorities have advised candidates to refer only to official RRB notifications and portals for recruitment-related information, eligibility requirements and examination details.

The detailed notification, including syllabus, application guidelines and vacancy distribution, is available on the Railway Recruitment Board’s official website.
