IMD forecasts extremely heavy rainfall in Bengal and Sikkim

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan Bengal and Sikkim during the next 24 hour.

On Sunday the 21st of June 2026, the IMD issued a warning of heavy rains in isolated parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

Since the advancement of South-West monsoon over peninsular India, the weatherman has predicted heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

The IMD has said that Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathawada, Saurashtra and Kutch will witness isolated to scattered rainfall till Friday.

The met department said that there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures over Northwest India till tomorrow, and a gradual fall by two degrees Celsius during the next 2 days and no significant change thereafter.

Meanwhile, IMD predicted heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over Bihar and Telangana during the day and East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha till Wednesday.

IYD-2026Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Coastal Karnataka, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa and North Interior Karnataka during the day.
