As New Delhi prepares to host the BRICS Summit this weekend, both Moscow and Beijing have confirmed the participation of their top leaders in the landmark gathering.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the BRICS grouping, India will host the summit for the fourth time from September 11 to 13, 2026.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to address the BRICS Business Forum on Friday, September 11. Chinese President Xi Jinping will arrive in New Delhi on Saturday for the two‑day summit.
The expanded 11‑member BRICS core now includes: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, the wider BRICS framework brings in 10 partner nations—Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam—which participate as partners rather than full members.
India has previously hosted the BRICS Summit in 2012 (New Delhi) and 2016 (Goa), while the 2021 edition was held virtually due to the COVID‑19 pandemic.
