Monsoon forecast 2020 says,  this year all parts of India will receive very good rains.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued its Long Range Forecast (LRF) earlier today 15 April 2020, predicting a near 100 percent rainfall coverage of the entire country, with a deviation of 5 percent.

A 100% rainfall is considered to be ‘normal’ as per the IMD’s definitions.

The onset of this years monsoon will be 01 June-2020 and is predicted to withdraw from mainland India on 15 October 2020.

The news is set to cheer-up agriculture and allied sectors at a time when the slowdown in economy is looming large due to CoronaVirus pandemic.

Rainfall pattern becomes very crucial for the economy as it affects the amount of available irrigated area, which in turn affects agricultural yield.

According to a recent study conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) monsoon rains has a major role to determine the food inflation trajectory and its impact.

IMD added that on 15 May 2020, a second monsoon forecast (known as Short Range Forecast) will be issued with enhanced accuracy as compared to the one issued today.
