The BJP ruled state government in Haryana has taken decision to reduce sizes of plot allotted to political parties.
The notification has come from Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) after it amended its 2016 policy governing allotment of institutional land to political parties in urban estates, substantially reducing the size of plots that can be allotted for their state headquarters.
Under the new and amended policy, the earlier provision allowing state headquarters of political parties to be allotted plots ranging from 1,000 square metres to 4,000 square metres has been replaced.
In future political parties will get plots measuring only 1,000 square metres to 1,500 square metres for state headquarters.
The amendment also removes another restriction contained in the earlier policy.
HSVP has decided that the existence of both a state headquarters and a district headquarters of the same political party within a single urban estate will no longer be a bar. Political parties can now establish both offices in the same urban estate, subject to the policy conditions.
The order makes it clear that all other provisions, eligibility criteria and conditions contained in the HSVP policy dated February 23, 2016, will continue to remain applicable.
