New service to connect Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar across a 2,532-km route
In a major boost to long-distance rail connectivity, Indian Railways has approved the introduction of a new tri-weekly Amrit Bharat Express service between Bhuj in Gujarat and Barauni in Bihar, linking key destinations across western and eastern India.
The decision was formally approved on September 25, 2026, marking another step towards enhancing affordable and efficient passenger connectivity across the country. With a route length of 2,532 kilometres, the new train will connect major cities and towns in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
Service to Operate Three Days a Week
According to the approved schedule, Train No. 19427 Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express will depart Bhuj at 5:30 PM and reach Barauni at 4:05 AM on the fourth day, covering the journey in 58 hours and 35 minutes.
In the reverse direction, Train No. 19428 Barauni-Bhuj Amrit Bharat Express will depart Barauni at 11:55 PM and arrive in Bhuj at 1:15 PM on the fourth day, completing the journey in 61 hours and 20 minutes.
The Bhuj-Barauni service will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while the Barauni-Bhuj service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Key Stations Along the Route
The train will provide commercial stoppages at several important stations, including:
Samakhiali, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Bharatpur, Mathura, Hathras, Bareilly, Izzatnagar, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur, among others.
The new service is expected to provide an important travel option for passengers moving between western and eastern India while strengthening rail connectivity across four states.
Among India’s Longest Train Routes
With a route length of 2,532 km, the Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express joins the league of India’s longest train services, although it remains behind several of the country’s ultra-long-distance routes.

The introduction of the Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express is expected to enhance mobility, particularly for migrant workers, students, business travellers and families journeying between western and eastern regions of the country.
