India has strongly rejected what it described as the “unwarranted and factually incorrect” references to the country in the Joint Communiqué issued by the so-called Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Wednesday the 23rd of September 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asserted that the OIC has no locus standi to comment on matters that are strictly internal to India.
The MEA reiterated that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India, adding that no amount of repetition of politically motivated propaganda can alter this reality.
“Repeated endorsement of such motivated narratives only raises serious questions about the credibility of the OIC,” the ministry said.
India also criticised the organisation for providing a platform to Pakistan to advance what it termed “fabricated and motivated propaganda” on Jammu and Kashmir.
Instead of echoing Pakistan’s position, the OIC would be better advised to counsel Islamabad to introspect and address its well-documented record of supporting and sponsoring terrorism, the ministry said.
The MEA further emphasised that Pakistan should focus on tackling the continuing threat of terrorism emanating from territories under its control rather than attempting to internationalise issues that remain India’s internal affairs.
