Jaishankar in SA for G20 Foreign Ministers’ meet

The External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar is in South African capital Johannesburg for G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting.

On Thursday the 20^th of February 2025, EAM held a separate meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Dr Jaishankar also met with his Ethiopian counterpart Gedion Timotheos, and interacted as part of a group with his counterparts from other countries, including Australia’s Penny Wong, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov and China’s Wang Yi.

In posts on X, he wrote:

“Honored to call on President @CyrilRamaphosa of South Africa on the sidelines of the G20 FMM in Johannesburg.

“Conveyed the warm greetings of Prime Minister @narendramodi. Assured India’s support for South Africa’s G20 priorities.”

On his meeting with the Ethiopian FM Gedion Timotheos, he wrote:

“Good to meet Ethiopian FM Gedion Timotheos of Ethiopia.

“Congratulated him on his appointment. And agreed to work together to strengthen our longstanding partnership.”
