Friday the 13th September 2024 marks an all important day in the history of Indian Army after successful firing trails were conducted by Light Combat Battle Tank – Zorawar.

According to a release issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) – the DRDO conducted field trials pf Zorawar in the desert terrain and the tank demonstrated exceptional performance, efficiently meeting all the intended objectives.

In the initial phase, the tank’s firing performance was rigorously evaluated and it achieved the required accuracy on designated targets.

‘Zorawar’ is an Indian designed battle tank which is light in weight and can operate at high altitudes including all war zones in Ladakh facing the Chinese PLA.

This tank has a 105 mm gun mounted on a Indian designed chassis and can move with a speed up to 70 milometers per hour.

Zorawar has been successfully developed by the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), a unit of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

Numerous Indian industries, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), contributed to the development of various sub-systems, showcasing the strength of indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities within the country.
