 India has raised its concern over the escalation of conflict in Ukraine after Russia pounded Kyiv with multiple round of missile attacks.

On Monday the 10th of October 2022, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi issued a statement expressing deep concern specially targets being hit inside Kyiv resulting in many civilian deaths.

Responding to media queries the MEA spokesperson stated that this escalation of conflict in Ukraine is in no one’s interest.

“We urge immediate cessation of hostilities and the urgent return to the path of diplomacy and dialogue. India stands ready to support all such efforts aimed at de-escalation,” he said.

India has consistently maintained since the beginning of the conflict that the global order is anchored in the principles of the UN Charter, international law and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, Bagchi added.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar who is currently on a visit to Australia also held broad ranging discussion on Ukraine conflict and its impact on Indo Pacific region with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong.

EAM while addressing a joint presser said both leaders discussed Ukraine and its repercussions in the Indo Pacific region.

The two leaders held the 13th India-Australia Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue in Canberra.
