Evacuation of hundreds and thousands of Indian nationals has begun in right earnest from the war torn Ukraine under Operation Ganga.
The first successful evacuation flight operated by Air India flight carrying 219 students landed safely in Mumbai on Saturday evening, the 26th February 2022.
Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal who hails from Mumbai was at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to receive the evacuated nations.
The second flight under Operation Ganga took-off from Bucharest for Delhi carrying 250 Indian nationals is on the way to India and is expected to land on Sunday morning in the Capital.
Amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv has advised Indian citizens against moving to any of the border checkpoints without prior coordination with government officials at border posts.
A release issued by ministry of external affairs late on Saturday evening updated information on whom to contact for safe passage.
