While fighting a floating tiny enemy in form of a coronavirus killing lakhs across the nation, India is now being hit very hard by two big cyclones just seven days apart.
After May 17th dated “Tauktae” (pronounced as Tau’Te) striking Gujarat from the Arabian Sea side, its now turn of “Yaas” (pronounced as “Yass”) hitting West Bengal from direction the sea of Bay of Bengal.
Till the time going to press around 5.00 pm on 25th May, Yaas was categorised as ‘severe cyclone’, a shade less threatening than that of Tau Te which was labelled as ‘extremely severe cyclone’ flagged with a red message by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Around 1 pm on 25th May, IMD issued warning that Yaas is very likely to move north-north westwards, to intensify further in to a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours, that is by mid-night tonight.
