There is a good news emanating from Tibet that famous and iconic Potala Palace in Lhasa its reopening for tourists.

It was closed for close to four months in wake of resurgence in Covid 19 cases.

According to news appearing in various websites of media organisations visitors to the Potala Palace will enter free of charge until 15th of March 2023, with online reservations required one day in advance.

This was officially stated in an announcement issued on the new year’s day on Sunday by the administration of the Potala Palace.

The palace will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day.

The Potala Palace is a model of ancient architecture and home to over 100,000 cultural relics.

It was built by Tibetan King Songtsa Gambo in the seventh century and expanded in the 17th century by the fifth Dalai Lama.

It may be recalled that the world famous Potala Palace was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.
