Top world leaders representing 27 nations have gathered in the national capital New Delhi for the G20 Summit meeting that formally is inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday the 9th of September 2023.
By Friday evening on 8th September, Prime Minister Modi had held separate meeting with the President of the United States Joe Biden and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina giving him opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties.
In a separate state issued by the White House, Joe Biden committed to India’s candidature for a permanent seat in the United Nation’s Security Council.
The 18th G20 Summit is being hosted at the new swanky and state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre located at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.
The British prime minister Rishi Sunak, the Brazalian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Australian PM Anthony Albanese were some of the top world leaders who had arrived in Delhi by midnight on Friday.
Earlier in the day G20 Sherpa, Amitabh Kant while addressing press conference stated that New Delhi Declaration will be adopted at the end of the summit meeting – a draft of which has already been circulated with the participating leaders.
The summit kicks-off on Saturday at 10.30 am where the first session will be devoted to the theme – One Earth. The second session will be on – One Family.
The President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to host a dinner for the Summit Leaders at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
