The Balimari border haat in Kurigram, North Bengal district of Bangladesh, which was closed at the beginning of Corona, will open in the first week of December. This haat will be held every Monday and Wednesday as before. Distance from capital Dhaka is 506 km, reports news agency UNI.
Regarding this, a joint meeting of the Deputy Commissioners of the two countries was held at Balimari Border Haat on the India-Bangladesh border around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Later, a delegation of 20 members from India and 8 members from Bangladesh visited the border haat area.
At that time, the South West Garo Pahar Ampati Deputy Commissioner of Meghalaya State, Mr. G. Kharmaoflalong (IAS) led the Indian side and Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Rezaul Karim etc. led the Bangladesh side.

Kurigram DC Rezaul Karim said that the Balimari border haat has been closed for a long time due to the corona epidemic. Successful discussions have been held at the DC level of the two countries regarding the opening of the market. In view of this, the delegation visited the haat on the ground. After the overall preparation, the hut will be opened in the first week of December.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that 37 types of products of the two countries can be bought and sold if the market is opened. Businessmen of both countries will benefit from this.
He said that there are 25 sellers and 587 buyers from Bangladesh and 50 sellers and 251 buyers from India. All of them have been given permission to come and go to market. Normally, there will be no problem in following the hygiene rules as the buyers and sellers of the haat are fixed.
Incidentally, the haat was officially launched on July 23, 2011, on the 75 meter by 4 bigha land of both countries, next to sub-pillar number 19 of the main pillar number 1072 of the Kalairchar border of Mahendraganj police station of Ampati district of Meghalaya state in Bangladesh and Baliamari in Rajivpur upazila of Kurigram, Bangladesh. Then every Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm this market was held.
