During the weekly presser of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) it was stated that 10 Indians who were working in Russian Army have returned home.

Those who came back were working allegedly as support staff in Russian Army, a job for which they had not thought off.

It may be recalled that soon after their news reached had reached India about their ‘involvement’ with the Russian Army, the Government of India pursued the matter with the Russian Government for their release.

Apart from those who had returned to India more are expected to come back.

On Thursday the 25th of April 2024, the MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said “as far as the question regarding Indian nationals is concerned, we are very actively pursuing these matters at various levels, including with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Defence and several other organizations there.
“We are committed to bringing back all the people who are so far who have gotten in touch with us and want to be released. 10 such individuals have come back to India. They have been released and they have returned home. We have been assured by the Russian side that the other Indians who are there, will also be released and they will return home,” he added.

Jaiswal informed that Russian government has assured of early release of the remaining Indians.
