Prime Minister Narendra Modi on late on Thursday the 24th February 2022 evening chaired a review meeting to discuss the situation arising out of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, NSA Ajit Doval and officials of security agencies were present in the meeting.

After assessment of the overall situation, the PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to make a telephone call to Russian President Putin on Thursday itself.

It was reported earlier in the day, Ukrainian ambassador Igor Polikha sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support amid the ongoing operation by Russia in Ukraine calling India a ‘very influential global player’.

News reports suggested that that the top ministers also discussed the economic fallout of the Russia Ukraine war and measures to deal with it.

The Indian embassy in Ukraine shared the details of temporary bomb shelters created by the local administration with Indian students in Kyiv as the bombing by Russian forces intensified.
