Former Japanese Prime Minister died on Friday the 8th of July 2022 after being shot at an local election rally.
Shinzo Abe succumbed to his injuries at 5.05 PM local time.
Officials said Abe was shot at about 11:30am local time while he was delivering a campaign speech on the street near a train station in Nara.
The attacker was a 41 years old man who used an improvised home made pipe gun.
He was detained at the location as he made no attempt to flee from the crime scene.
The 67 years old Shinzo Abe received two bullet injuries that damaged his heart. Both shots were fired from the front.
He was rushed to the hospital in an air ambulance where doctors could not revive him due to excessive bleeding from the heart.
Doctors said by the time Shinzo Abe reached hospital his heart had stopped.
