With the possibility of a third wave of coronavirus infections threatening to appear in some parts, India has decided to extended ban on all international commercial flights till 30 September.
On Sunday, 29 August 2021, Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an order to extend the ban for one more calendar month.
The flight ban will not be applicable to cargo flights approved by the DGCA on international routes along with similar ones on case to case basis.
It may be recalled that all commercial air travel on scheduled international flights are suspended since 23 March, 2020 when COVID19 virus had begun to spread worldwide.
However DGCA did relax rules with regard to special flights operating under ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ bringing thousands of Indians back from abroad during lockdown period.
Restrictions were on air travel were also eased with regard to flights between selected countries having ‘air bubble agreements’ with India.
