The two men who killed Udaipur resident Kanhaiya Lal for allegedly expressing support to a former BJP leader spokesperson comments on Prophet Mohammad were widely condemned will be hanged within a month, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot exhorted on Thursday the 30th of June 2022.

He said this to gathered media persons soon meeting family members of tailor Kanhaiya Lal who was murdered on Tuesday last.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is treating this case of criminals having role of a “terror gang and not a terror outfit”.

The Rajasthan chief minister said this murder in broad daylight was a heinous crime and vowed to get the matter into the fast track court. “The culprits will be hanged within a month.”

He said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has already begun the probe. “We will fully cooperate in the investigation.”

Applauding the Rajasthan Police, he said they did a good job by arresting the criminals immediately.

The victim reportedly had recently shared a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma– former BJP leader who had made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad.
Riyaz and Ghouse were arrested from Bhim in the Rajsamand district. Following the murder, local markets in the area were shut as the traders demanded justice for the victim.
Internet services were suspended in Udaipur and a curfew has been imposed.
A statewide alert had also been issued to all SPs and IGs to increase the mobility of forces and to maintain officers on the ground.
