The prime minister Narendra Modi chaired a high level meeting in Morbi, Gujarat on Tuesday the First of November, 2022, to review the situation in the aftermath of horrific bridge collapse that took lives of 135 people.
Mr Modi directed the authorities to reach out to families of all those affected by the tragic incident while ensuring that they receive all possible assistance.
PM Modi said the need of the hour is to conduct a detailed and extensive inquiry which will identify all aspects relating to this mishap. He also added that the key learnings from the inquiry must be implemented at the very earliest.
Those present at the meeting included among others the chief minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, the state’s home minister Harsh Sanghavi, Minister Brijesh Merja, Chief Secretary of Gujarat, State DGP, local Collector, SP, Inspector General of Police, MLAs and MPs and other officials.
Earlier, upon reaching Morbi, the prime minister visited the site of the bridge mishap.
He also visited the Morbi Civil Hospital where the survivors and injured are recovering.
