“During the night of 27th-28th April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LOC) in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts.”

Indian Army stated on Monday morning (28th April) while adding that “Indian troops responded swiftly and effectively”.

It was for the first time time that Pakistan had violated cease fire in Poonch district.

The exchange of gunfire across the LOC had started almost every night after Pakistan sponsored terrorists had killed 26 tourists at poinyt blank range in Pahalgam.

The killed tourists had come from almost all India visiting the Kashmir Valley locations after peace and prosperity had returned to the J&K.

Soon after the carnage in Pahalgam, India had stopped flow of Indus river water flowing into Pakistan according to the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) agreements.

The IWT is a treaty signed between and Pakistan in 1960 that shares river water of Indus and its tributaries originating from Indian side into the Pakistan.

It may be recalled that almost 21 per cent of Pak’s GDP is dependent upon the economy based on rich agricultural business around Indus river ecosystem.
