Amidst growing tensions in the Middle East, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a travel advisory asking all Indian nationals to avoid traveling to Iran.

The MEA stated that it is closely monitoring the security situation in the region and advised Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran.

In a travel advisory , issued on Wednesday the 2nd of October 2024 further added that Indians residing in Iran to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.

“We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in security situation in the region.

“Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.”

Iran said it had fired 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday.

Tensions have reached to a higher level after Israel vowed that it would conduct “powerful strikes” across the region in revenge for Iran’s missile attack.

Tehran also threatened that if Israel responds then it would retaliate again.

This was also immediately followed up by Iran’s proxies in Iraq stating they would attack US bases in the country.

Various media reports suggested that Israel has carried put significant ground operation into southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, with reports that Israeli tanks had advanced into the country.
