On Saturday the 4th of June 2022, Indian diplomatic mission in Ukraine is ‘back on-line’ after Harsh Kumar Jain presented his credentials to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a ceremony in the St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv.

The Indian Embassy had moved back to Kyiv on May 17, after being temporarily located in Warsaw, Poland in wake of Russian-Ukraine conflict which started on 25th of February 2022.

After the fighting intensified India evacuated thousands of Indians, manily students,  from Ukraine.

Harsh Kumar Jain took charge on April 5, when the embassy was functioning from Warsaw.

Addressing the Ambassador of India, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine and India are united by the belief in freedom and independence.

The President of Ukraine quoted the words of Mahatma Gandhi that aptly describe Ukraine and Ukrainians: “Strength is in the absence of fear, not in the number of muscles in our body. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
