India and France have signed a deal to co-produce Airbus helicopter HS-125 in India. Coinciding with state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India, this landmark deal has been signed.

Tata and Airbus Industries will jointly manufacture HS-125 at the Vadodara facility. It’s the same place where Tata and Airbus are jointly producing C-295 transport aircrafts
The HS-125 deal was announced on 26th January 2024 during French president Emmanuel Macron’s visit
Foreign Secretary Vinaj Kwatra officially gave the news during a media interaction.The President of France was the Chief Guest at this year’s RD Parade
The HS 125 helicopter is variously used for multi-role law enforcement missions including surveillance, search and pursuit, rescue, special operations, escort and border patrol in high and hot conditions.
The dependable French HS-125 holds the world record for the highest-altitude landing and take-off, performed on Mount Everest in at 8,848 meters (29,029 feet)
This world record at Mt Everest sortie conducted in 2005 is held till date.
