Come 20th of January later this month when Donald Trump scripts history as a ‘best come-back president’ when he takes over the 47th president of the USA, from India, the external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar will represent India.

A formal announcement was made on Sunday the 13th of January 2025 by the external affairs ministry – ‘On the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the Swearing-In Ceremony of President-Elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America.

During the visit, EAM will also have meetings with representatives of the incoming Administration, as also some other dignitaries visiting the US on that occasion,’ the statement added.

But before EAM travels to USA he would be visiting Spain for two days beginning Monday.

During the visit, EAM will meet the leadership of Spain and hold discussions with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Manuel Albares, on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional and global matters of mutual interest.

He will also address the 9th Annual Conference of Spanish Ambassadors and meet the Indian community, the statement added.

It may be recalled that the visit of EAM to Spain follows the India visit by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in October last year, during which the latter along with PM Modii jointly inaugurated the Tata Advanced System Limited (TASL)-Airbus facility in Vadodara to manufacture C-295 military aircraft in India.

The Tata-Airbus facility is the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India.
