The night time COVID19 curfew in Delhi came into force in right earnest, sharp at 10 pm on Tuesday night, 6th April 2021.

Delhi Police had erected barricades across the national Capital allowing passage to only those connected with essential services.

People with only valid e-passes issued by Delhi Government will be allowed to move.

Earlier in the day the Arvind Kejriwal government had issued orders for night time lockdown in Delhi in a desperate attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus now believed to be in its wave no 4.

The daily positive COVID19 cases shot up to 5100 in the national Capital.

The “sudden increase in Covid-19 cases” and “high positivity rate” meant a night curfew was needed, the Delhi Government said in its order.

Private doctors, nurses, other medical staff and journalists will be allowed passage through the police cordons on the streets with ID cards.

Exceptions will also be made for pregnant women and those needing any medical treatment.

Those traveling to or from the IGI airport or train or bus stations will be allowed on production of valid journey tickets.
