It was a day long slugfest between the city unit chiefs of BJP and Congress on campaign to re-name prominent roads in the national capital.

Soon after Delhi unit president of the BJP Adesh Gupta shared contents of his letter written to New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) demanding re-naming of roads, Mr Anil Chaudhry, the chief of local Congress unit objected stating the policies of the ruling party are ‘disturbing communal harmony’.

In his letter addressed to the NDMC Chairman, Gupta proposed to change the name of Tughlaq Road to Guru Gobind Singh Marg, Aurangzeb Lane to APJ Abdul Kalam lane, Babar Lane to Khudiram Bose Lane, as per a copy of the letter shared by him on social media.

BJP’s other proposals are to change Humayun Road to Maharishi Valmiki Road and Shahjahan Road to General Bipin Singh Rawat Road.

This letter from Mr Gupta come-in within days after a similar letter submitted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to re-name renaming 40 villages in the Capital after eminent personalities.
