The Treasury Benches led by the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju held an all party meeting on Thursday the 30th of January 2025 to conduct a customary session with the Opposition floor leaders.
The idea was to gauze the mood across the floor so as to attempt a smooth conduct of the most important session of the Parliament that is the Budget Session.
The Thursday’s meeting was in fact chaired by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, JP Nadda, Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan.
The budget session of Parliament will begin on Friday the 31st and, according to the notified schedule of the session, it will end on April 4.
As announced earlier the Finance Minister will present the Union budget will be presented on February 1.
Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju says, “We have appealed to all parties that since it is the Budget Session and the first session of this year to cooperate in running the house.
President Droupadi Murmu will be addressing both the houses of Parliament” tomorrow.
“After the address of the President, the Economic Survey will be presented and On 1st February, the Union Budget will be presented, after which, discussions will be held on the President’s address followed by the discussions on Budget” Rijiju said.
He added “Tomorrow, with the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will decide the duration of discussions on the President’s address and the Budget “.
Leaders from various political parties, Jairam Ramesh, K Suresh, and Gaurav Gogoi (Congress), TMC MPs Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Derek O’Brien were present in the meeting.
RSP MP NK Premachandran, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, DMK MP TR Baalu, SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav, JMM MP Mahua Maji and several other MPs also attended the meeting.
Parliament will have an inter-session break from February 14, and the two houses will resume their sittings on March 10.
