Soon, very soon there is going to be an announcement for a short term recruitment of soldiers for a four-year service tenure to be aptly called as AgniPath scheme.

After a four year ‘tour-of-duty’ 75 percent of the soldiers will get a handsome parting package while the 25 percent will be recruited for longer period of  14-15 years giving them opportunity to earn pension benefits.

A decision to this effect has been taken during the last cabinet meeting while a formal announcement remains to be made.

The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) will be implementing the AgniPath scheme, according to defence ministry sources.
