India on Monday the 6th of June 2022 successfully test fired a 4,000 kms range Agni-4 Missile at 7:30 PM from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha.
This variant of Agni-4 is a classified Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) and with advance telemetry and control systems can hit targets with pint-point accuracy as far as 4,000 kms away from its launchpad.
It carries a solid fuel propellant engine meaning it can travel very fast to its target.
The successful test was part of routine user training launches carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, the Defence Ministry said in a press statement.
The launch validated all operational parameters as also the reliability of the system. The successful test reaffirms India’s policy of having a ‘Credible Minimum Deterrence’ Capability, the Ministry added.
