Taking oath for the third time as Prime Minister will not be as sweet as it was in the past.

Narendra Modi now needs able support of Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu of JD (U) and TDP to form the next government.

On Tuesday the 4th of June, 2024 when results were announced for the constitution of 18th Lok Sabha, the BJP led NDA alliance had achieved a comfortable tally of 291.

In the House of People i.e. the Lok Sabha, the majority mark is 272 out of the total strength of 543 directly elected seats.

The BJP’s tally for the new Lok Sabha is now 240 seats.

In the outgoing Parliament the ruling party had a magical figure of 303 seats when it enjoyed majority without any outside support.

The INDIA alliance led by Congress now has won 234 seats.

When the last trends and results came-in on Tuesday night, the Congress party this time appears to have managed to reach a one short of three-figure mark.

In the evening the Narendra Modi made a speech at the BJP HQ in the National Capital stating that – people have reposed faith in the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

He said this is the only instance since 1962 when a government has returned to power after completing two back-to-back terms.

“A new history” has been created after six decades, Modi stated adding that the BJP-led NDA will form its third successive government and that it is the victory of resolve of Viksit Bharat, of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ and of strong faith of people in India’s Constitution.

On Wednesday the 5th of June, both the BJP and the Congress have called top leaders of their alliances partners to hold close door meeting in Delhi to decide their future course of action.
