It has been by all means a path breaking visit by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States of America.

Not only did the long awaited defence deal was struck that included America transferring state of art technology to build jet engines for LCA Mark2 fighter jet, the joint India-US statement issued uses a set of words that aptly defines the moment – both countries are ‘like-minded quantum nations’.

The statement also states that two countries as “among the closest partners in the world — a partnership of democracies looking into the 21st century with hope, ambition, and confidence”.

There are 58 paragraphs in the Joint Statement and  a ‘Fact Sheet’ issued by the White House.
