On Thursday the 15th of December 2022 when civil aviation authorities in the Capital were busy splitting their hair in an attempt to bring normalcy at the IGI Airport due to long delays for passengers, Air India inaugurated a direct non-stop flight from Mumbai to San Francisco.
At the IGI Airport – an additional 1,400 CISF personnel have been sanctioned to secure the expanding terminal areas of the Delhi Airport and also to meet the challenge of its growing passenger traffic, officials said on Thursday.
It was informed during the meeting that an additional force of 1,400 Central Industrial Security Force personnel would soon be deployed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport where expansion is going on at three terminals — 1, 2 and 3 — apart from its cargo hold area.
At Mumbai, Air India inaugurated a thrice weekly non-stop flight between Mumbai and San Francisco.
The airline had launched three times a week flight between Bengaluru and San Francisco on December 2, 2022.
‘The flight will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with the newly-inducted Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. This will take Air India’s India-US frequency to 40 non-stop flights per week.
Presently, Air India operates non-stop flights from Mumbai to Newark, from Delhi to New York, Newark, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Chicago, and from Bengaluru to San Francisco.
This will be the third Indian city after Delhi and Bengaluru to have a direct flight to San Francisco,’ the statement said.
The launch of the Mumbai-San Francisco route will be followed by Mumbai-New York City (JFK), Mumbai-Frankfurt, and Mumbai-Paris, the statement said.
Additional domestic flights originating from Mumbai will also be added, the statement added.
