History was created on Thursday the 21st of July 2022 when 64 yrs old Droupadi Murmu became India’s 15th President.
Murmu also becomes the country’s first tribal as Head of the State of Republic of India.
She defeated combined opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha by an impressive margin receiving over 64 per cent valid votes.
At the end of the counting process, the Lok Sabha secretary general Utpal Kumar Singh and also the returning officer for presidential election 2022 declared Droupadi Murmu as the winner, adding that she secured 6,76,803 votes against Sinha’s 3,80,177 votes to become the President.
