While the capital New Delhi woke-up on Monday the 16th of May 2022 with newspapers carrying bold headline of city recording 49 degree Celsius, there was good news from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) that monsoon has actually arrived in India in the Andaman Islands.

This has now kick started the cycle of South-West Monsoon, which is widely considered to be the largest atmospheric movement of water at any given time.

The four-month long SW Monsoon is now heading towards Kerala and predicted to reach there on May the 27th days ahead than that of usual June the 1st arrival date.

The IMD said on Monday that  Andaman & Nicobar Islands have begun receiving heavy rains as the due south-westerly winds picked-up its momentum in the lower troposphere layers.

The onset of SW Monsoon over Andamans is late by just one day.
