Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, 28 December 2021, launched an un-forgeable digital degree based on blockchain technology developed by IIT Kanpur.

While addressing graduating students at the 54th Convocation of IIT Kanpur, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the endless opportunities that digital technology has thrown-up in the 21st century.

The IIT Kanpur digital degree can be opened-up on any computer and verifiable from anywhere in the world and it cannot be forged. For education sector it is a revolutionary step.

The IIT Kanpur has developed such digital degrees under the aegis of National Blockchain Project.

During his day-long engagements in Kanpur, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the IIT-Kanpur –  Moti Jheel sector of Kanpur Metro.

The entire length of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project is 32 km and is being built to an estimated cost of Rs 11,000 crores.
